INCEPTION

Coming Friday, July 30th
Every Evening at 7:00 PM

In a season loaded with remakes, sequels, and sequels of sequels, Inception has been the most anticipated movie of the summer, something new under the sun, a picture with an original premise. Plus, it is packed with exceptional actors, from Leonardo DiCaprio to bright newcomer Ellen Page (Juno), Marion Cotillard (La vie en rose), Cillian Murphy (The Dark Knight), and that (British) national treasure, Michael Caine, all brought to you by Christopher Nolan, the cult direct who gave us Memento, and then The Dark Knight.

Briefly, DiCaprio is an ace "extractor" who ferrets secrets out of peoples' dreams for the purpose of industrial espionage. But DiCaprio has his sorrows—he's on the run, unable to return to his family—until he's promised salvation if he performs his dream job, that is, not extract but plant an idea in the mark's brain that will cause him to break up his father's billion dollar company. The action takes place in the characters' heads, but there's more than enough of it—mayhem and bedlam of every sort—to satisfy the most avid thriller fan.

Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action throughout. 148 minutes.

"Inception, Christopher Nolan's visually arresting, noir-tinged caper... which is to say that the time—nearly two and a half hours — passes quickly and for the most part pleasantly, and that you see some things that are pretty amazing, and amazingly pretty: cities that fold in on themselves like pulsing, three-dimensional maps; chases and fights that defy the laws that usually govern space, time and motion..."

—A.O. Scott, The New York Times

"This endlessly fascinating swirl of a film could have come only from Nolan, who blends the cerebral twistiness of Memento (his thriller that moves backward in time) with the spectacular action of his Batman megahit, The Dark Knight."
—Caryn James, Newsweek

"Christopher Nolan's audacious new creation...part sci-fi fantasy, part gun-toting heist pic, part mindfreak, all filmmaker brio—is dazzling and buzzy. It's a rolling explosion of images as hypnotizing and sharply angled as any in a drawing by M.C. Escher or a state-of-the-biz videogame; the backwards splicing of Nolan's own Memento looks rudimentary by comparison."
—Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly
